A new City-Scape is on the horizon

We can all recall hearing that the Peace Tower of Parliament had to be the tallest in the city-scape. Pretty much, buildings were restricted to 45.5 meters within the downtown area because of The National Capital Commission’s “Canada’s Capital View Protection” which was first challenged when the EDC buildings were built and then completely changed just in 2017; giving builders and developers a whole new range of possibilities.

Lar-Mex is hard at work every day at the Claridge ICON which will be the tallest building to be completed since the new rules were established. Although a handful of other projects claim to reach higher than the forecasted 143m (45-story) ICON, none have yet to get under-way.

Led by our VP of Construction, Dan Chouinard, our on-site Project Manager, John Crowder, and trades General Foreman, Justin Mallette, Lar-Mex is proud to be amongst the contractors involved to be the first to touch the Ottawa sky.
