Celebrating 30 years of business

On May 9th of this year, Lar-Mex Inc. officially be turned 30. The big Three-Oh. Dirty-thirties. Officially adulting. All the stuff we wish we could have avoided as people. But, for a business, it’s different. Turning 30 has all sorts of interesting quirks about it without all the slower-metabolism-issues turning 30 usually implies.

This company was founded in a small apartment in a building at the corner of St-Laurent and Montreal road. Shortly after, it moved into a basement of a bustling family’s bungalow in Overbrook. It finally moved to its first commercial-designated building on Coventry road, then to the second floor of that same building a while later. Eventually, we made our way to Canotek Park. But not in the building we occupy now, no… a smaller, darker, and simpler unit. Until finally, we didn’t have enough space there either. We moved to the current location in 2009, at the time, we occupied 2 units. I can’t even really recall the order that everything happened after that because it was all so fast but, today, we occupy 6 units. Not to mention the West-End location, our pre-fabrication shop; and our satellite office within the Kemptville Campus of the University of Guelph.

But buildings, moving, and shops aren’t the only things that demark a company’s growth. Although it’s a simple way of reminiscing over the years and realizing what strong people are capable of when faced with adversity, opportunities, risks, and a good amount of defeats to learn from.

And, judging by the trend, it’s not over yet. Lar-Mex intends to continue to grow in the Ottawa market and aims to advance consistently. We will continue to grow our team, our reach, our services, our client-base, and our possibilities for as long as possible. Because, well, 40 is just around the corner and we hear that can be the start of a mid-life-crisis.
